This week on Mid-American Gardener, we visited a truly inspiring community garden: First Followers Topsoil. This local organization is helping formerly incarcerated individuals plant seeds of hope, healing, and restoration. Through gardening, these men—young and old—are rebuilding their lives, connecting with at-risk youth, and growing more than just food. They're growing community, confidence, and a new future.

On this week's episode of Mid-American Gardener, Jim Appleby, Kay Carnes, and Martie Alagna are in the studio to answer your garden questions. Your tomatoes and grapes might be looking a little worse for wear right now...but, it might not be your fault! Jim explains how herbicides in your neighborhood might be affecting your backyard garden. Plus, Kay brings in a pink peony poppy, an easy self-seeding annual that is deer resistant. Martie also identifies a mystery weed and discusses control options. Do you have a garden question? Send it in to us at yourgarden@gmail.com, and one of our expert panelists will answer it for you on the show!

We look to get a start on the growing season with a trip to Allerton Park in Monticello. The MAG crew are forced indoors for the show, but it didn't stop us from checking out the plant sale going on outside!
