We’ve had thunderstorms, strong winds and lots of rain, but as we reach Memorial weekend, we are heading towards a warmer humid season.

Summer finally kicks off in June which means hotter temperatures, moist soils, abundant water and lots of moisture that travel from the gulf of Mexico.

But it also means there might be some weather hazards along the way from flash floods to heat waves. During this time we also experience humidity which can contribute to severe weather events like thunderstorms.

Professor in the Department of Climate Meteorology and Atmospheric Sciences in the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign, Steve Nesbitt and Meteorologist in Nutrient Ag Solutions, Andrew Pritchard talk about what summer in Illinois might look like.
