The Evening Concert

Wednesday night October 8 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “Illinois Classical” you’ll hear the first program in a new season from the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Zubin Mehta leads the group in Brahms’ “2nd Symphony”.  Also on the program Brahms’ “Violin Concerto” with soloist Leonidas Kavakos.

Tuesday night October 7 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “Illinois Classical” it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. Guest conductor Jaap van Zweden leads the CSO in Mahler’s “6th Symphony” from the 2025 Mahler Fest in Amsterdam.

Monday night October 6 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “Illinois Classical” it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. Music and Artistic Director Designate Gustavo Dudamel leads the Philharmonic in Mahler’s “7th Symphony” recorded this past May.

Sunday night October 5 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “Illinois Classical” you’ll hear an all-Mozart program on the “Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 7:00 you’ll hear “Romantic Music from Brazil and Mexico” on “Fiesta”.

Friday night October 3 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “Illinois Classical” you’ll hear a program new to our schedule coming to us from the Heifetz International Music Institute in Staunton (STAN-tun), VA called “Heifetz On Air”. Tonight’s program features music by Bohemian composers.

Wednesday night October 1 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “Illinois Classical” you’ll hear Edward Gardner conduct the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra in Berlioz’s “Symphonie fantastique”. Also on the program Bartok’s “2nd Violin Concerto” with soloist Christian Tetzlaff.

Tuesday night September 30 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “W-I-L-L Classical” it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. Guest conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen leads the CSO in Ravel’s “Mother Goose”. Also on the program Bryce Dessner’s “Violin Concerto featuring Pekka Kuusisto.

Monday night September 29 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “W-I-L-L Classical” it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. Music and Artistic Director Designate Gustavo Dudamel leads the Philharmonic in Igor Stravinsky’s “Symphony in Three Movements” and Philip Glass’ “Symphony No. 11”.

Sunday night September 28 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “W-I-L-L Classical” you’ll hear Chausson’s “Concerto for Violin, Piano and String Quartet” on the “Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 7:00 you’ll hear music from the Basque Country on “Fiesta”.

Friday night September 26 at 7:00 on “W-I-L-L Classical” it’s “Gateways Radio”. You'll hear Valerie Coleman’s “Sonata for Flute and Piano” with flutist Terry Andrews and pianist David Berry, William Grant Still’s “Africa” and Coleridge Taylor-Perkinson’s “Worship”. Loki Karuna hosts.
